First of all, I really like the composition of the...trees? stumps? I do think the front stump has more impact off to the side like that than if it were centered. I looked at a few of your other photos, and you always do a good job with composition.

I love that the light is coming from the side. It's dramatic, especially with the pose of the bird. That bird is totally modeling for you!

I know it's hard to chase wild birds around with a camera, so I can't fault you for not being able to get closer, but I still wish the bird was bigger. I have a different eye than you, so I'd crop it in tighter on the bird, but then I'd lose much of the background and location. You have to choose what's more important to you: the bird, or the location. In this photo, the location is more interesting and has more impact than the bird.

Ultimately I would categorize it as a landscape photo, not a bird photo. That way, the bird is like a bonus on an already cool photo!
